16.6. Android Market troubleshooting

To use in-app purchase on the Android edition of ViewRanger you need:

If you don't have the right Market installed you'll be told the final price is in credits when you download, or you'll see various errors.

To update your Market software:

1. Check the version - go to the phone's Settings app, Applications, Manage applications and tap on Market. You need version 2.3.6 or better. This may appear as 2002306 or 2.3.6. (Download size is another clue - old versions are around 1MB, new ones are 3.5 - 4.5MB.)

2. If you do not have the latest version, tap "Clear data" and confirm.

3. Run the Market app, but do not use it. Leave it on its start screen.

4. Press the phone's home button, leaving Market in background and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes. The Market app should update. It will not tell you that it has done so. But going to step 1 you'll see it has updated.

Though this process is unclear, it is what Google tell you to do. Steps 1, 3 and 4 are from the Google site, we added step 2 based on experience: http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=190860
