iPhone:Version 1.1.0 Changes
From ViewRanger Wiki
Version 1.1.0 for the iPhone was released on 20th July 2010 and is available to update using the app store. The user manual has not yet been updated with details of the changes.
The release contains:
- Full iPad Support, including split screen.
- Support for multi-tasking (requires an iPhone that supports multi-tasking and iOS 4 or above).
- Support for New Zealand maps.
GPS runs in background
Note that if you have a 3GS iPhone with iOS 4 installed, or an iPhone 4, the GPS will continue to run while the application is in the background. So you can lock the screen or answer a call and ViewRanger will continue to record a track or transmit the beacon.
When you are finished with the GPS, press the menu button and choose "Disconnect GPS", or go to Settings and switch off the GPS, or use the iPhone's tool to terminate apps (double tap the home button, then long press on the app, then press the red circle icon).
Known Issues:
These issues will be fixed in an update, which will be available shortly.
- The buddy beacon settings are not saved if the app is closed while it is in the background. This won't usually affect you, but if you find the beacon switches on without being asked when the app starts:
- Go to Beacon settings, turn off the beacon and the beacon auto start
- Go back to main map and press lock to GPS
- Use the home button to send the application into background
- Close the application while it's in background
- Movie player does not display, though you will hear the audio
- The GPS / track record / beacon status icons in the top bar don't update until the status bar fades out and fades back.
- When downloading a file if you use the Lock button, send the app into the background or answer an incoming call, you will interrupt the file download.
