1.1. Basics

 

What is a track?

A track is a recording of your activity. It shows where you travelled and statistics like distance, speed and altitude.
A route, on the other hand, is a line shown on the map. It is a plan of the direction you will follow.

How do I upload a track to the computer to view?

In the app on the device use Menu tab (in green bar), Sync content. This uploads the tracks to http://my.viewranger.com website where it can be viewed.

 

1.2. Recording tracks

 

How do I record a track?

In the app on the device on the map screen tap plus "+", Record Track, and tap record button.

Can I pause track record?

In the app on the device on the map screen tap the increasing trip time then press pause.

Will track recording automatically pause when I am stationary?

No. In the app on the device on the map screen tap the increasing trip time then press pause.

How can I change the track category?

Before and during track record this can be done from the track control screen which is accessed from the map screen by tapping the trip time button then the category.
After a track is recorded it can only be done from the website http://my.viewranger.com

I forgot to stop track recording. Can I crop the track?

Yes. This is done on the http://my.viewranger.com website. Routes and Tracks > My Tracks. Tap on the name of the tracks. Use the slider at the foot of the map to crop the track and press save.
