5.1. Changing to a new device

Maps can be installed on up to four concurrent devices using the same ViewRanger account.

On the existing device, in the ViewRanger app, use Menu tab (3 dots in green bar), Sycronize content.  This uploads your routes and tracks to the website http://my.viewranger.com so they can later be downloaded to the new device.  If you have lots of POIs that must be kept as well, please contact support, before discarding your old device.

Install Software

If not already done so, then first install the ViewRanger software from the Apple app store - that's the only way to install software on the iPhone/iPad. Versions available:

If you have already purchased ViewRanger for the iPhone you do not need to re-purchase ViewRanger for a new iPhone or iPad. Either use iTunes to restore ViewRanger onto the new device, or use the app store to install.

Sign into your account to license maps

Start the ViewRanger app on your new device and sign into your ViewRanger account.  Use Menu  tab (in green bar), My Account to sign in.

On your new device, ensure you are connected to wifi.  Restore you map packages, tiles, custom maps and saved maps by going to Menu tab (3 dots, green bar), My maps, MY MAPS tab. Here you can download your map tiles again.

Alternate method to restore maps

To switch from one iPhone/iPad to another is to use iTunes back up and restore (see related pages).
