7. Version 4 release notes

Version 4 for iPhone and iPad is the new version of ViewRanger for iPhone and iPad, which introduces a new user interface.
The Premium edition has been released, on 29th August. The Free and USA editions will be released in the first week of September.

Map screen

The display of the map screen has been much improved, and there is a new home screen and options popup.

Top bar

The top bar:

The home screen - drag from the right edge of the screen, or use the '>' button top right, to access the home screen. Here you'll find Organizer, Settings, Track recorder, the Store and so on.

The buttons along the bottom of the screen are:

Action bar

When you select a route, track, POI, buddy or a search result, a new 'Action Bar' appears at the top of the screen.
The contains some summary information for that item, and some action buttons. For example, from here you can follow a route, access the edit features, or re-locate a buddy. Some buttons will show a menu.
Drag the handle down the screen to get a list of all items of that type. Swipe left and right to switch between lists of routes, tracks, POIs, buddies and route search results.
Drag the handle up to close the action bar.

BuddyBeacon

The Buddy Beacon can still be controlled using home menu > Organizer > buddy Beacon, but there are two new ways to control it.
When you go to the track recorder, using the stop watch button, there is a button to toggle the beacon on and off.
Or from the map, use Options > Buddy beacon, there are several commands to control it.
Also, the status of the beacon is now given in the top bar over the map. The last send time is displayed.
