Advanced adding of Image, Audio and Video

It is possible to add photos to the descriptions of POIs, routes and waypoints. It is also possible to add links to audio and video clips. Some simple formatting tags are available.

Add a photo to a description

To add a photo named image.png to a description:

  1. Select the POI, route or waypoint in the Organizer list and choose Properties. Or select it on the map, press the menu button and choose Properties.
  2. Type this into the description: <im>image.png</im>
  3. Upload the photo to the iPhone using the iTunes File Sharing interface
  4. When you view the details of the POI, route or waypoint, you'll see the photo. It is sized to fit your screen.

Add a sound clip to a description

To add a sound clip named audio.wav to a description:

  1. Select the POI, route or waypoint in the Organizer list and choose Properties. Or select it on the map, press the menu button and choose Properties.
  2. Type this into the description: <sound audio.wav>Click here to play the clip</sound>
  3. Upload the sound clip to the iPhone using the iTunes File Sharing interface
  4. When you view the details of the POI, route or waypoint, you'll see a clickable link Click here to play the clip. When you tap that link you'll see sound play/stop/pause/step controls and the sound clip will play.
  5. If you are navigating, then when the alarm is triggered for the point, the sound will play.

Add a video clip to a description

To add a video clip named movie.mov to a description:

  1. Select the POI, route or waypoint in the Organizer list and choose Properties. Or select it on the map, press the menu button and choose Properties.
  2. Type this into the description: <link movie.mov>Click here to play the clip</link>
  3. Upload the video clip to the iPhone using the iTunes File Sharing interface
  4. When you view the details of the POI, route or waypoint, you'll see a clickable link Click here to play the clip. When you tap that link the video will play.
  5. If you are navigating, then when the alarm is triggered for the point, the video will play.

Other editing

You can have as many links and photos as you like in a description.

There are a range of other tags you can use to format the description.

These tags change the appearance of text. There must be a matching end tag. So to make a word bold put: <b>word</b>.
